I didn’t have space in this essay to discuss it fully, but you would perhaps be happy to know that I crossed paths with many folks your age returning to Vietnam as tourists, having come of age there during the war. All of them seemed moved by their return, and they all seemed to be welcomed by their hosts.

We can’t change the past, but we can change the future. Visiting Vietnam proved that to me.
